Vice President of Finance – PFP

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Future Progression: Promotable to Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Status: Full-Time, Executive Leadership

PFP is seeking a strategic and forward-looking Vice President of Finance to lead financial planning, operational finance, and strategic initiatives. This role complements the Controller/Director of Accounting position, focusing on broader financial strategy, planning, external relationships, and corporate development. The VP of Finance will report directly to the CEO, work closely with the company's Independent Director, and help elevate the finance function as part of a future CFO transition.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Finance & Planning:

  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic financial planning.
  • Design and manage the finance team and organization for PFP in collaboration with the Controller.
  • Develop financial models for strategic decision-making, capital investments, and growth planning.
  • Serve as the primary finance contact for SML to coordinate alignment, reporting, and investment planning.

Governance, Capital, and Banking Relationships:

  • Serve as the primary liaison with PFP’s banking partners and ensure compliance with lending covenants.
  • Lead discussions on new financing arrangements and capital structures.
  • Support M&A activities, joint ventures, and evaluation of new business opportunities.
  • Ensure robust compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Executive Decision Support & Business Partnering:

  • Translate business plans into actionable investment models across all business units.
  • Collaborate with department heads (marketing, digital, operations) to fund and scale key initiatives.
  • Support profitability modeling by credit union and region with the NBD team.
  • Provide strategic insights on broker compensation, CU reimbursements, and carrier economics.

Professionalization of Administrative Functions:

  • Contribute to the modernization and strategic oversight of HR, IT, and other administrative functions.
  • Establish scalable processes, reporting frameworks, and compliance standards for all shared services.
  • Drive the development of internal reporting tools and dashboards in collaboration with Howard and others.

Tax Optimization and Ownership Strategy:

  • Collaborate on ownership-level tax strategies to optimize outcomes for the shareholders.
  • Maintain effective planning frameworks for cash flow, distributions, and reinvestment.

Ideal Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, ideally in financial services, insurance, or private equity-backed companies.
  • Proven experience leading FP&A, banking relationships, and strategic financial operations.
  • Strong modeling, capital planning, and financial structuring skills.
  • Track record of managing compliance, covenants, and lender relationships.
  • Experience in M&A, new business evaluation, and multi-entity financial reporting.
  • Effective communicator who can engage with Boards, Independent Directors, and cross-functional executives.
  • CPA or MBA preferred but not required.
