Job Overview:

The Sr. Staff Accountant is responsible for reconciling bank statements & providing monthly reports to the department managers analyzing budget variances to actual spending. Financial statement reporting. General ledger posting for transactions such as investments, cash receipts by state & various expenses. Perform internal carrier audits as well as working with our external accounting firm. Assist with Profitability analysis when requested by the senior executives. Client reimbursements. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Budget versus Actual reporting to Managers and explain any significant variances.
  • Perform annual insurance carrier audits.
  • Complete year end general ledger reporting and analysis.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Process incentives for both our sales reps and external clients.
  • Perform additional tasks and complete ad hoc projects as needed.
  • Work with external auditors
  • On-line state tax payments as well as establishing on-line tax accounts per state requirements.
  • Assist with annual expense budgets.

 

  Education, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • 4 or more years’ experience in an accounting role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize while meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Possess clear and professional presentation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Exhibits strong critical thinking skills and adaptable to change.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Exhibit interpersonal savvy and the ability to foster successful peer relationships.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
  • Working knowledge of Sage 50/Peachtree and Access Database software a plus.
  • Concur Travel expense experience a plus.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Analytical & Auditing skills

What does the schedule look like?
  • Monday – Friday 9:00 – 5:00 or 8:30 – 4:30
  • MondayWednesday and a third day in office, the rest of the week is work from home!
  • This position is hybrid and will require the employee to be within commutable distance to our Corporate Headquarters (Orange, CT)
